I'm Allen Coin. Professionally, I'm a digital strategist, web developer, marketer, and data-driven creative problem solver.

Personally, I'm a writer, food lover, travel enthusiast, and friend to all dogs. I'm always exploring new hobbies, and lately I've been getting really into woodworking and building carbon fiber canoes.

Academically, I'm an associate researcher interested in the ethical, legal, and social implications of emerging technologies like AI and neurotech.

This policy describes how information is handled on allencoin.com, Allen Coin's personal website.

Analytics and cookies

I use Google Analytics 4, delivered through Google Tag Manager, to understand how people find and use this website. Analytics can collect pages viewed, interactions, referral information, browser and device information, and approximate location. It uses cookies and similar technologies to distinguish visits and measure usage.

Google processes information through these services. You can read about how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's Privacy Policy.

Privacy settings and regional defaults

Open Privacy from the Start menu or use Privacy settings on this page to control analytics and embedded videos separately. Analytics stays off while the site checks an approximate connection region. Connections classified as EEA (including its covered territories), UK, Switzerland, Gibraltar, Isle of Man, Jersey, or Guernsey are asked first; other recognized regions default to analytics and embedded videos on. If the check fails, analytics stays off unless you enable it. Region is not a statement of nationality.

When either service has no saved choice, a Cloudflare service checks the connection region. Cloudflare receives your IP address and other connection information. The service returns only a regional policy classification; this website does not save your IP address or country. Cloudflare's own processing is described in its Privacy Policy.

Explicit privacy choices are stored in this browser for up to 180 days. They take precedence over regional defaults. A Global Privacy Control signal keeps analytics off even if you previously allowed it. Privacy choices and accessibility settings are not sent to analytics. Ad blockers can independently block optional services.

Turning off a service that has already loaded reloads the page to stop its code. Turning off analytics also removes accessible first-party Google Analytics cookies. This does not undo requests already sent or delete historical records held by Google. It cannot remove third-party cookies belonging to other sites. If preferences cannot be saved, the panel explains the limited persistence.

Embedded videos

YouTube presentations load when opened if videos are enabled by your choice or regional default. Otherwise, they wait for permission, either for that video or as a saved preference. The player uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed mode. Loading it connects your browser to Google and YouTube, which receive technical information such as your IP address and information about the video request. Privacy-enhanced mode does not make viewing anonymous. Google's privacy policy applies to its processing of this information.

Website hosting

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub logs visitors' IP addresses for security purposes. See the GitHub Privacy Statement for details.

Email

If you email me, I receive your email address and whatever information you include in your message. I use that information to respond and manage our correspondence. Please avoid sending sensitive information you do not need to share.

Saved preferences

If you apply a wallpaper, this site saves your selection in your browser's local storage so it can remember your choice on future visits. The saved preference stays in your browser. When enabled, Analytics may also record which wallpaper you preview or select, along with interactions such as opening, minimizing, or closing windows, restarting or shutting down the desktop, and opening a video. You can remove it by clearing this site's stored data in your browser settings.

Accessibility settings are also saved in your browser's local storage. Your selected accessibility settings are not sent to Google Analytics. Use Restore defaults in the Accessibility panel, then Apply, to reset them, or clear this site's stored data in your browser settings.

Your choices

You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings and use browser privacy controls to limit tracking. Google also provides a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported desktop browsers. That add-on does not stop all data collection by other services, including YouTube or the hosting provider. Optional services remain off when JavaScript is disabled. Hosting connections are still necessary to serve the website. Clearing site data also clears your privacy choices, so regional defaults will be checked again on a later visit.
