How to fix Google Fi mobile data is stuck on 1X

Here’s how to fix the mobile data on your phone if it is stuck on 1X.

Step number 7 and 8 are the steps that fixed it for me.

1) Please enable airplane mode for 30 seconds and then disable it.

2) Check system updates.

Open Phone Settings > About phone > Advanced > System updates > Check for update.
3) Check if there are any pending updates for the apps Hangouts, Android Messages, Google Fi, Google Play Services and carrier Services.

Open Play Store app > Menu > My Apps > Select each app and install if any updates available.
4) For Google Fi service to work properly, the app should be enabled.

On the device, open Phone settings > Apps > Google Fi. Make sure the app is enabled. The App info should show a “Disable” button when the app is enabled.
5) Check data usage and permissions.

Open Phone settings > Apps > Google Fi. Tap data usage

Data usage shouldn’t be restricted to the following:

Hangouts
Carrier Services
Android Messages
Google Play Services
Dialer
Google Fi
Tap Permissions. Phone, SMS, and Location permissions be ON.

Now, if you see an option “Background data” , the switch should be ON.
If you see an option “Unrestricted data usage”, the switch should be ON.
If you see an option “Restrict background data”, the switch should be OFF.
Return to the Apps & Notifications page and repeat this process for the apps Hangouts, Android Messages, Google Play Services and carrier Services.

6) Restart the phone into safe mode. In Safe mode, the device won’t allow any third party apps and this’ll help us determine if any third party app is causing the issue.

Press and hold your device’s power button.-
On your screen, touch and hold Power off. If needed, tap OK.
Your device starts in safe mode. You’ll see “Safe mode” at the bottom of your screen. (Restart the phone to exit safe mode)
7) Dial the code *#*#34963#*#* on your phone’s dialer pad. That’ll repair if there’s any network issues.

For more information on safe mode, click on this link.

8) Finally, switch the network to T-Mobile by dialing *#*#34866#*#*. If that doesn’t work, dial *#*#34777#*#* to switch the network to Sprint.

9) Before resetting the networks, I would like to inform you that you need to input the password of your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to connect to the device.

Here are the steps:

1. Open your device’s Settings app .

2. Under “System”, tap Advanced.

3. Tap Reset Options Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile & Bluetooth.

4. You will be prompted to enter your device’s PIN, password or pattern.

5. Tap Reset Settings to confirm.
